The future is supposed to be a really cool place. This website is dedicated to how awesome it will be.
Futurists in the past have predicted many things, for example, they predicted that there would be a base on the moon by the year 2000. That didn't happen yet.
But some predicted things that did happen, like Gordon
Moore. He predicted that the power of computing would double every two years.
Anyhow, there might not be a base on the moon quite yet, but there will be someday.
Also a guy named Elon Musk is planning on sending a colony to mars before the year 2030.
But where is Moore's Law headed towards? Recently HP has invented something called "The Machine." Sounds pretty wicked, right? It is the most powerful computer that exists right now. It is capable of computing 640TBs. Way ahead of it's time.
Moore's law is going to go into high gear. Technological progress is going to accelerate and the rate of technological change will go faster and faster. This is referred to as the Technological Singularity.
This will be a time when computer intellegence surpasses human intellgence.
This will mean that new inventions and technology will show up exponentially.
Artifical intellegence will help solve problems that don't even exist yet. Cool technologies like full immersion virtual reality will exist by the year 2040. This is becuase scientists will know how the brain works by then, and because of that there will be technology that will let you go into a virtual world like in "The Matrix." Anything will be possible in these virtual reality worlds.
Essentially the times ahead of us will be exciting and bizzare. It will eventually be a world without poverty becuase of 3d printing. 3d printers already exist today, but will eventually be able to print anything that exists, like food and clothes. This will make everything almost free.
There will also be self driving cars. Nissan plans on producing a self driving car that will be available by the year 2020.
